More and more companies are facing the challenge of making their products more experiential on the internet. Until now, products are still predominantly shown as normal 2D images in online shops. However, to convince users of products and to achieve a better connection to real life, this is no longer sufficient. Therefore, Scanmotion created high-quality 360-degree product photos in 4 levels for Panasonic’s new power tools, including cordless drill drivers, cordless circular saws, and many other new cordless power machines. Customers can now ‘touch’ and move the cordless drill independently on the internet. The trip to the hardware store is no longer as important, as the 360-degree product photo enables comprehensive ‘exploration’ and ‘familiarization’ with the power tool. This was made possible through 360-degree product photography. The normal view using 360-degree product photography on 1 axis is increasingly developing on the internet in all areas, including fashion. However, the so-called 4-axis technique is still quite new and less known. With the type of capture also used by Panasonic, an item can be captured and viewed in 4 viewing levels at 360 degrees each. This makes it possible to view a product both in direct front view and in a viewing axis, for example, from above. This gives the user the impression of having the product directly in front of them. Through mouse movements, it is possible to explore the product comprehensively from all sides and from different viewing axes. This new type of product view fascinates customers greatly, keeps them on the page longer, and also shows details of the products that are otherwise not visible.

360-degree product photos are captured in HTML5 JavaScript and are visible on all mobile devices. However, Scanmotion also creates compact Flash files with the 4-axis technique upon request.
